Gradient Nails

These nails are gorgeously simple and are very quick and easy to do and give a professional look.

I started as i always do by adding a base coat to protect my nails and then selected my colours. I wanted some contrasting summery colours so i selected a white and two shades to turquoise(to made the gradient less sudden).

On my ring finger i painted on an opaque coat of the darker turquoise and on all of the others painted a layer of white. I then put a layer of liquid latex around the nails getting as close as possible to reduce clean up after the gradient. Then i took a make-up sponge and added 3 stripes of nail polish, one of each colour, and then dabbed it onto the nail. Using lots of thin coats rather than one thick coat gives a much better result and allows the gradient to become more gradual and faded. Once it was all dry i added a quick dry top coat. If the polish is not dark enough at the tips of the nails you can beak of a little of the sponge and dab on some more of the darkest colour onto the end; trying to blend it as much as possible.
